Fast food chain menus are shrinking

Fast food menus are getting leaner as several chains, including McDonald’s, Panera Bread, and Subway, trim the number of items they offer—and the pandemic is only partially to blame. While it’s true that restaurants eliminated some choices in the wake of Covid-19 in order to expedite orders and provide more kitchen safety, many of the cuts had already been in the works. What’s gone? McDonald’s is doing away with salads, bagels, and yogurt parfaits, while Subway is no longer selling rotisserie chicken and roast beef. And in possibly the cruelest cuts of all, Taco Bell will no longer offer potatoes on its menus in any form, from the Spicy Potato Soft Taco to the Cheesy Fiesta variety. You now have two days to taste the 7-Layer Burrito.
