Customers eating outdoors at their favorite restaurants are racing against time as daylight is cut short and seasons grow cold. Often called the early-bird special, 5 p.m. dinner reservations have become the new normal for many. Eating earlier also has its health benefits. “Your body is programmed to metabolize during daylight hours. The only problem is when you eat so early you find yourself eating a second dinner,” says dietitian Carli A. Liguori. But will outdoor diners continue to savor the early-bird special as winter nears?
