State health officials suspended the license of a Castle Rock, Colorado, restaurant after it welcomed large dine-in crowds on Mother’s Day, The Denver Post reports. Colorado Governor Jared Polis said C&C Coffee and Kitchen presents an “immediate health hazard” and its license would be suspended for at least 30 days. The restaurant drew national attention after photos of the packed dining room and patio appeared all over social media this past Sunday. No one was practicing social distancing and very few people wore masks. The restaurant remained open on Monday despite the suspension and order. Owners Jesse and April Arellano reopened the restaurant stating they were in a “tight spot” financially. It remains unclear how the health department plans to enforce its suspension; Polis said this could leave them shuttered indefinitely.
