Coca-Cola to set executive pay based on overall employee compensation

Coca-Cola will now set executive pay based on the same approach used to determine compensation for company employees, Food Dive reports. CEO pay at large U.S. companies has risen dramatically in recent years, with a pay disparity between some CEOs and workers hovering at around 1,400 percent, according to The New York State Common Retirement Fund. Shareholders have complained about the tens of millions of dollars given to some CEOs; others argue if shareholders are rewarded through stock sales then executives should be rewarded as well. The New York State Comptroller has also pushed for changes in calculating executive pay at Microsoft, CVS, and Macy’s.
