Biden called for stricter worker protections, but stopped short of repealing a Trump meat plant order

In April 2020, then-President Donald Trump signed an executive order to ensure that meat processing plants remained operational throughout the pandemic, despite rising concerns from safety advocates that doing so would impede the ability of local health officials to shut down unsafe facilities. DJT might be gone, but the action remains in place—despite calls on Biden from worker organizations to repeal it, Politico reports. Biden administration officials say that OSHA’s workplace safety recommendations have been tightened in the last few weeks and that more precautionary measures are on their way.
